Hello, Hello!  I’m Kim!  I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and was lucky to be exposed to the world of Chinese instruments at the young age of 8!  By the age of 10, my love for music had grown tremendously and I began my training and learning of the guzheng, Chinese zither, under Ms. Winnie Wong, Founder of China’s Spirit Music Ensemble (CSME).  As my musical expertise advanced, I became a core member of CSME’s Silk Ensemble where I led other ensemble musicians in various cultural performances and music competitions all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

Some notable venues and stages where I have performed include - Herbst Theatre, De Young Museum, University of California Berkeley, Chinese Cultural Center of San Francisco, San Jose Center for Performing Arts,  Sister Caroline Collins, D.C Theater, San Francisco Marriott, Oakland Asian Cultural Center, Pacific Renaissance Plaza, San Jose State University, The St. Regis San Francisco, and the Chinese Performing Arts of America (CPAA) Arts Center to name a few!  My favorite part about performing is I can tell a story through music simply by using different tones of the instrument as well as expressive dynamics.

Moving to Boston, MA in 2021, I found myself turning to my music as a therapeutic outlet of expression!  I realized I wanted to share my expertise and love for guzheng with the new community around me, and so, I decided to start Wongderful Tunes Studio!  Through music and performing arts, I have the opportunity to share a piece of my Chinese background and heritage with others.  I absolutely love collaborating with other musical artists and am excited to teach/share my knowledge and passion for guzheng with the Greater Boston Community!  I cannot wait to meet you and I’m very much looking forward to making some #wongderfultunes together!
